Shenandoah Caverns & American Celebration on Parade
261 Caverns Road, I-81, exit 269
Just 2 minutes from exit 269 of I-81, you'll find a unique combination of natural and manmade beauty.
Shenandoah Caverns, which first opened to the public in 1922, is truly outstanding among Virginia's natural wonders with ancient formations so unusual they were featured in National Geographic. Shenandoah Caverns is also the only Virginia cavern with elevator service. Included in your admission is American Celebration on Parade, an exhibition of famous parade floats and props from important events in America's entertainment and political history. These huge samples of celebration art occupy a building the size of one-and-a-half football fields! You'll also see Main Street of Yesteryear, a collection of antique animated department store window displays like those families used to visit on main streets across America at holiday time. Open all year with free picnic facilities and a seasonal old time soda fountain.

The
Art Group
5906 Main St.

The Art Group is a non-profit cooperative
gallery of local artists whose goal is to promote the art and artists
of the Shenandoah Valley in a fun and relaxed community atmosphere. Art
works of resident and visiting artists are displayed for viewing and sale
throughout the building. The Art Group offers classes, workshops and demonstrations
on various artistic techniques and mediums. Many of these classes are
hands-on experiences allowing the participants to unleash their creative
potential in a supportive and cooperative environment. Each month a new
artist is featured in our front gallery. A reception is usually held allowing
the community to meet the artist while viewing the art works and enjoying
a snack and a drink. The Art Group is also supportive of musicians as
artist. The first Friday of each month we present a live music jam featuring
local musicians. This event is co-sponsored by the town of Mt. Jackson
and ShenandoahMusic.com. Listeners and musicians are all welcome.
The Art Group is located in the heart of
Mt. Jackson, across from the Gazebo and the Visitor Center and Town Offices.
