Welcome to the Mount Jackson Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) page! We're glad you're taking an interest in how our town's zoning works. The BZA plays an important role in ensuring fair and consistent application of our zoning ordinance, helping to maintain the character and quality of our community.
What We Do
The Board of Zoning Appeals is a vital part of our local government. We're here to listen to and decide on appeals related to zoning decisions. This means if someone believes a zoning decision has been applied incorrectly to their property, they can bring their case to us. We carefully review each appeal, considering all sides of the issue, and make decisions based on the Mount Jackson Zoning Ordinance.
Who We Are
Our BZA members are nominated by the Town Council and officially appointed by the Circuit Court. To ensure diverse perspectives and a good understanding of planning, our board includes a member of the Planning Commission. Members serve staggered terms, which helps maintain continuity and experience on the board.
Get Involved
We encourage all Mount Jackson residents to familiarize themselves with our zoning ordinance. Understanding the rules helps everyone contribute to the growth and development of our town. If you have any questions about the BZA or the zoning process, please don't hesitate to contact the Town Office at (540) 477-2121 or info [at] mountjackson.com (info[at]mountjackson[dot]com). We're here to serve you!
