Large Trash

The Mount Jackson Public Works team is committed to keeping our town clean and beautiful, and that includes helping you dispose of those larger items that don't fit in your regular trash can. We know getting rid of old furniture or yard waste can be a chore, so we offer a quarterly large trash pick-up to make it easier for you.

Mark your calendars! Our large trash pick-up happens four times a year, in January, April, July, and October. To ensure we can collect everything efficiently, please have all your items at the curbside by 7:00 AM on the designated collection day.

What We DO Pick Up:

We're happy to collect a variety of large items, including:

  • Christmas trees (please remove all decorations)
  • Household furniture (couches, chairs, tables, etc.)
  • Lawn mowers (please drain all fluids)
  • Tree limbs (no longer than 4 feet long and tied in a bundle)
  • Metal scraps (please separate these from other household items)

What We CANNOT Pick Up:

For the safety of our team and to comply with regulations, there are some items we cannot collect:

  • Loose brush or brush piles
  • Chemicals
  • Paint
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Tires
  • Televisions
  • Computers
  • Anything in garbage or plastic bags

Why these restrictions? Some items, like chemicals and paint, require special disposal to protect our environment. Others, like tires and electronics, can be recycled through specific programs. We want to make sure everything is handled properly. If you have questions about where to dispose of these items, please don't hesitate to contact the Public Works Department. We're here to help!

Sorting Makes a Difference:

When you're preparing your large trash for pick-up, please take a moment to sort your metal scraps from the other household items. This small step helps us recycle these materials efficiently and keeps our community cleaner.

Working Together for a Cleaner Mount Jackson:

The Public Works Department is proud to serve the residents of Mount Jackson. Our large trash pick-up is just one of the ways we're working to make our town a better place to live. By working together and following these guidelines, we can keep Mount Jackson looking its best!
